Expanded metal lath is extensively used as a background to plaster in order to reinforce against cracks and it is especially useful at joints of dissimilar materials.  Generally 021 or 026 lath is used for wall situations and for ceiling work 023 or 024 is used.

Catnic expanded metal lath is manufactured in accordance with BS1369 : Part 1 : 1987.  The galvanised steel used in the manufacture of metal lath is in accordance with BS EN 10142:1991 of Fe P02G quality coating type Z275.  Where stainless steel is used it is in accordance with BS1449 : Part 2 : 1983 grade 304S15.
